The Government of the Federal Republic of Somalia has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Somali Sustainable Fisheries Development ‘‘Badmaal’’ Project (SSFDP). The Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy (MFBE) is seeking a qualified consulting firm to provide specialized services for the development of fish landing infrastructure at three key locations: Kismayo, Warsheik, and Jazeera.
The objective of this assignment is to ensure the sustainable development of fisheries through robust technical and environmental planning. The selected firm will be responsible for:
Feasibility Studies: Conducting comprehensive assessments including financial feasibility (construction and O&M costs), economic feasibility (projected fish quantity and value increase), and construction feasibility (material availability and coastal processes analysis).
Technical Design: Preparing concept and detailed engineering designs for jetties that account for climate change resilience and the specific needs of diverse community groups (men, women, and youth).
Environmental & Social Impact: Preparing full ESIAs for each site to ensure compliance with national and international environmental standards.
Business Modeling: Developing appropriate management models and operational plans to ensure the long-term maintenance and viability of the infrastructure.
The consultancy is expected to be completed within a strict timeline of 5 months from the date of commencement.
