Human Appeal is seeking a dedicated Health Officer to oversee and implement field activities in Mogadishu, specifically focusing on the execution of a critical cataract campaign. The Health Officer will be responsible for leading and supervising the project to ensure the highest technical standards are maintained in accordance with national and donor guidelines.
Key responsibilities include finalising implementation plans, managing weekly and monthly work schedules, and strengthening the capacity of stakeholders to provide school-based eye-care services. The role involves training teachers and ophthalmic technicians in visual impairment screening, coordinating surgical interventions for complex cases, and supporting the distribution of corrective eyeglasses.
Additionally, the officer will lead health-related proposal writing, attend cluster coordination meetings, and oversee project budgets and financial reporting. Frequent field visits are required to monitor the cataract medical team’s performance and ensure value for money and project sustainability.
