Shabelle Community Development Organization (SHACDO) is a humanitarian, non-profit organization dedicated to responding to emergencies and promoting community resilience through life-saving health and development interventions.
SHACDO is recruiting a qualified Health and Nutrition Officer to be based in Wanlaweyn District, Lower Shabelle Region, with possible movement to other project areas such as Afgoye, Mogadishu, Warmahan, and surrounding locations.
The selected candidate will lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of health and nutrition activities to ensure quality service delivery in line with national guidelines, donor requirements, and organizational standards.
Implement approved health and nutrition project activities
Ensure quality delivery of primary health care and nutrition services
Support CMAM, IYCF, and community outreach programs
Conduct regular supervision and mentoring of staff
Coordinate with government health authorities and partners
Participate in district and regional health coordination meetings
Strengthen referral systems between community and facility services
Collect, analyse, and submit weekly and monthly reports
Ensure compliance with project indicators and donor requirements
Monitor adherence to medical and nutrition protocols
Provide technical support to community-level health workers
Maintain proper use of monitoring tools and reporting templates
Conduct data quality checks and validation
Document success stories and project achievements
Support timely submission of high-quality reports
Forecast and monitor health and nutrition supplies
Coordinate with logistics for supply delivery and storage
Ensure accountability and proper use of drugs and nutrition commodities
Submit supply reports to management
Promote community participation and accountability
Support health education and behaviour change activities
Ensure complaint and feedback mechanisms are functional
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition, Medicine, or related field
Experience
Minimum 5 Years of relevant experience in health and nutrition programming
Experience in humanitarian or emergency settings is an advantage
Knowledge of the local context is highly preferred
Skills
Strong knowledge of health and nutrition guidelines and protocols
Excellent report writing and data analysis skills
Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email systems)
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
Strong communication and coordination skills
Fluency in Somali and working knowledge of English
