Pastoralist In Action Development Organization (PIADO) is a national, non-profit Civil Society Organization established in July 2019 under the Ethiopian Federal Civil Society Organizations Proclamation No. 1113/2019. PIADO operates in Somali and Oromia Regional States, delivering integrated humanitarian and development programs to vulnerable pastoralist, agro-pastoralist, and crisis-affected communities, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), women, and children.
The organization works across multiple sectors such as Food Security and Livelihoods, Health and Nutrition, WASH, Shelter/NFI, Education, Protection, Gender Equality, Climate Change Adaptation, and Disaster Risk Reduction. Through its integrated and community-driven approach, PIADO aims to address immediate humanitarian needs while building long-term resilience and sustainable development.
PIADO is currently implementing a Trigger-based Anticipatory Action Pilot Project in Dawa Zone, Somali Region. This project focuses on mitigating the effects of drought and climate shocks through early warning systems, anticipatory interventions, and community-based resilience strategies.
Job Summary:
The Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring food security and livelihood activities under the project. The role includes managing cash transfer programming, supporting drought-affected communities, and strengthening community-based early warning systems. The officer will also play a key role in data collection, reporting, and supporting future development interventions.

Working Conditions:
The position is based in Moyale District with frequent travel to remote field locations. The role may involve working under challenging conditions, including high-risk environments and limited infrastructure. Flexibility to work beyond standard hours may be required.
