Human Appeal Somalia invites bids from registered Eye Hospitals or general hospitals with established Ophthalmology departments to provide screening for refractive errors in primary and secondary schools. This initiative is part of the "Alliance to Fight Avoidable Blindness (Second Generation)" and the "Eyecare for Empowering Children in Africa (EYECA)" project.
The successful bidder will be responsible for conducting large-scale screenings across the Banadir, Galmudug, Jubaland, and Baidoa regions. The project aims to identify refractive errors in students, provide necessary treatments, and facilitate referrals for cataract surgeries where necessary.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
Clinical Screening: Deploy qualified medical teams (Ophthalmologists, nurses, and clinicians) to schools to conduct eye examinations and identify refractive errors.
Surgical Interventions: Perform safe, high-quality cataract removals and intraocular lens implantations for referred cases.
Logistics & Equipment: Utilize specialized surgical microscopes, instruments, and high-standard sterilization equipment to maintain a sterile environment.
Supply Chain: Procure and manage essential consumables and drugs, ensuring no expired medicines are used.
Data Management: Maintain robust records of all beneficiaries screened and patients operated on, including signatures/thumbprints for verification.
Referral Network: Establish or identify regional health facilities for follow-up care and specialized referrals.
