The Humanitarian Analyst will serve as a key member of the Humanitarian Team, providing high-quality analysis, information management, and strategic insights to support humanitarian preparedness, emergency response, and evidence-based decision-making across Somalia.
The role is responsible for monitoring and analyzing humanitarian, political, security, displacement, climate, public health, and socio-economic developments to identify emerging risks, trends, and opportunities that may impact vulnerable populations and humanitarian operations. Through the collection, interpretation, and synthesis of data from multiple sources, the Humanitarian Analyst will produce timely analytical products, situation reports, early warning updates, risk assessments, briefing notes, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership and program teams.
Working closely with technical specialists, area offices, programme teams, government counterparts, and humanitarian partners, the post holder will contribute to emergency preparedness planning, contingency planning, anticipatory action initiatives, humanitarian response strategies, and organizational learning. The position will also support information sharing, coordination, and evidence generation to strengthen operational effectiveness and humanitarian impact.
The Humanitarian Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring that Save the Children maintains a strong understanding of the evolving humanitarian context in Somalia and is equipped to make informed, timely, and effective decisions that improve preparedness, response quality, and outcomes for affected communities.
During major humanitarian emergencies, the role holder may be required to provide surge support, rapid analysis, and emergency response assistance to meet organizational priorities and operational needs.
