The Advancing Circular Technologies for Infrastructure and Value-chain Enhancement (ACTIVE) Project invites qualified and experienced firms to submit tenders for the proposed establishment of a Water Desalination Centre in Burgabo, Lower Jubba, Jubaland State of Somalia.
The ACTIVE Project is a European Union (EU)-funded initiative aimed at strengthening Somalia’s economic resilience through the integration of renewable energy solutions into agriculture, livestock, and fisheries value chains.
The project focuses on expanding access to sustainable and affordable energy in order to:
Improve productivity in key economic sectors
Enhance market competitiveness
Strengthen economic resilience
Support environmentally sustainable growth
As part of its commitment to improving water security and climate resilience in Jubaland State, the ACTIVE Project intends to establish a modern desalination facility in Burgabo.
The primary objective of this tender is to:
Establish a fully operational water desalination centre
Improve access to safe and clean drinking water
Support the Burgabo community and surrounding rural settlements
Strengthen long-term water security and resilience
This initiative directly addresses the urgent need for safe potable water in the region and contributes to improved public health and socio-economic stability.
The successful contractor will be responsible for:
Construction and installation of the desalination plant
Civil, mechanical, and electrical works
Integration of renewable energy solutions (where applicable)
Testing and commissioning of the facility
Compliance with technical specifications provided in the tender documents
Detailed specifications, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and design documents are provided in the official tender package.
Interested firms must demonstrate:
Minimum 5+ Years of experience in water infrastructure, desalination systems, or similar engineering projects
Proven track record in construction and installation of water treatment or renewable-energy-based systems
Qualified technical personnel and licensed engineers
Strong financial and operational capacity
Only firms that meet the qualification criteria outlined in the tender documents will be considered.
