A leading international humanitarian organization is seeking a qualified Finance Officer to support daily financial operations in Kismayo, Somalia. The role involves payment processing, financial compliance, cashflow management, vendor invoice review, and supporting smooth finance operations within the field office.
The organization works globally to improve the lives of children through programmes focused on health, education, nutrition, protection, and humanitarian response.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process office payments and financial transactions.
- Support daily finance operations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures and internal controls.
- Manage office cashflow and assist with monthly finance activities.
- Upload and review supplier/vendor invoices in the financial system.
- Conduct regular payment runs and ensure timely vendor payments.
- Support reconciliations, reporting, and financial data posting.
- Assist the Area Finance Coordinator with finance administration and operational support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Business Administration
- Or related field
- ACCA or CPA certification is an added advantage.
ACCA = Association of Chartered Certified Accountants - CPA = Certified Public Accountant
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a finance role within an NGO or INGO environment.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Microsoft Excel
- Spreadsheets
- ERP systems
- Financial reporting tools
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong integrity and teamwork skills.
- Good written and spoken English.
