Somaliland Community Action Network (SCAN) is seeking qualified Two Positions of Community-Based Trainers (CBTs) on based in Borama and the other one is based in Hargeisa with strong experience in climate-smart agriculture, farmer training, and horticulture drip irrigation to support food system resilience initiatives. The CBTs will facilitate and mentor Climate-Adapted Village Savings and Loan Associations (CA-VSLAs), support savings meetings, record keeping, group governance, and provide frontline monitoring and reporting while serving as a key link between communities and project technical teams. Purpose of the Position
The Community-Based Trainer (CBT) will provide frontline technical and facilitation support for WFP-supported resilience and livelihoods activities. The CBT will strengthen climate-smart agricultural practices, support Climate-Adapted Village Savings and Loan Associations (CA-VSLAs), and link savings groups with cooperative-led food system and livelihood activities.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Climate-Smart Agriculture and Food Systems Support
· Deliver farmer training on climate-smart agricultural practices aligned with WFP resilience programming
· Support horticulture production, including drip irrigation systems and water-efficient technologies
· Promote improved crop and livestock management practices to enhance food security and nutrition
· Support demonstration plots and farmer-to-farmer learning approaches
B. CA-VSLA and Financial Inclusion Support
· Facilitate formation and mentoring of Climate-Adapted VSLA groups
· Support savings and loan meetings, record keeping, and financial transparency
· Promote linkages between CA-VSLAs and household food system activities
· Encourage inclusion of women and youth in savings and livelihoods initiatives
C. Cooperative and Livelihood Development
· Provide hands-on support to crop and livestock cooperatives
· Strengthen cooperative governance, leadership, and accountability
· Support integration of VSLA services with cooperative-led enterprises
· Promote market-oriented production and collective action
D. Monitoring, Reporting, and Coordination
· Conduct frontline monitoring of WFP-supported activities
· Collect routine field data, beneficiary feedback, and success stories
· Report progress, challenges, and lessons learned to project supervisors
· Act as a key liaison between communities, SCAN technical teams, and WFP-supported interventions
4. Qualifications and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture , Business Administration, Rural Development, or any related field
· Practical experience in climate-smart agriculture and farmer training
· Experience working with VSLA groups, cooperatives, or community-based organizations
· Prior experience with UN agencies, or INGOs is a strong advantage
· Ability to work effectively in rural and resource-constrained environments
· One of them Based in Awdal Region and Other is based on Maroodijeex Region
