CAAP Background
Community in Action Against Poverty (CAAP) is a local organization that has been officially registered by the FDRE Agency for Civil Society Organizations on December 24, 2018, under registration number 4091. CAAP works in the Somali region and focuses on responding to emergencies, development, and promote peace, with a special emphasis on empowering girls and women. CAAP’s vision is to create a poverty-free Somali regional state where women are empowered to create a resilient, inclusive, and fair future for themselves, their families, and their communities. CAAP's strategic plan for the next seven years (2024-2030) aims to empower girls and women through integrated, sustainable, cost-effective, evidence-based, coordinated, and impactful programs in the Somali region and throughout Ethiopia. Currently, CAAP covers 38 woredas and 8 refugee camps, with a staff of over 70 people working across the region.
CAAP, with the support of the International Solidarity Foundation, plans to implement a four-year program, aimed at preventing harmful practices and violence against women and girls (VAWG) and enhancing the resilience of women's livelihoods in the Somali region of Ethiopia. CAAP is looking for competent, committed and professional staff to fill the Gender Based Violence (GBV) Officer position in Somali Region, Ethiopia.
Job Purpose Summary
The GBV Officer is responsible for the overall day to day of GBV prevention and response interventions, including case management/psychosocial support, community mobilization and awareness for GBV prevention, capacity building and coordination with other sectors and actors in the assigned woreda. The GBV Officer, will supervise GBV assistant officers, Social and Case workers, providing them ongoing supervision, mentoring/coaching to ensure that the goals and objectives of the GBV program are met in a timely and effective manner, ensures that the approach to program implementation is participatory, team members receive appropriate support and that a positive team spirit is fostered encouraging innovative and quality programming. The GBV Officer will act as CAAP focal point for Gender, Safeguarding, CRM and PSEA in the field
