Area Manager – Humanitarian and Emergency Response Operations

Provided strategic leadership, operational oversight, and program management for multi-sector humanitarian and development interventions in conflict-affected and hard-to-reach areas of Somalia. Responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of emergency response, protection, livelihoods, cash assistance, and resilience programs in line with organizational strategies, donor requirements, and humanitarian standards.
Led area-based programming through coordination with government authorities, UN agencies, donors, local partners, and community stakeholders to ensure timely, accountable, and high-quality service delivery to vulnerable and displaced populations. Oversaw project planning, implementation, monitoring, budgeting, reporting, and compliance while promoting program integration and adaptive management approaches.
Managed multidisciplinary teams comprising program and support staff, including finance, human resources, logistics, procurement, administration, IT, and safety personnel. Ensured effective resource management, operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and compliance with organizational policies and local regulations.
Provided leadership in emergency preparedness and response operations, including the implementation of Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) programs and interventions targeting conflict-affected, displaced, and hard-to-reach communities. Supported strategic planning, proposal development, donor engagement, and fundraising efforts while strengthening accountability mechanisms and organizational learning.
